TDV Contact + Gold Instruments

Information

Contact + Gold is an instrument designed to produce consistent contact points with optimal shape and position in Class II composite resin restorations. The instrument has ends configured such that simply applying force to the adjacent tooth gives the desired effect. The slit in the convex surface produces a resin fillet that, once cured, forms the contact. Contact + Gold comes in a kit with two instruments, one for conservative wells (S) and one for large wells (L). Each instrument has two different ends, one for mesial cavities and one for distal cavities.

Use

Preparation - A matrix/wedge set is used to apply the contact point technique, being particularly recommended the Unimatrix sectional convex matrices system. It is necessary to have at least one layer of composite properly adapted and cured at the cervical region (5) before applying the Contact + Gold to avoid any risk of marginal leakage. The application of Fotoplus instruments at this step is recommended to minimize this risk. To select the appropriate instrument size (small or large), if there is any doubt about it, is suggested to try them before the application of the composite, by introducing the tip into the cavity to decide which is the most suitable for the cavity in question (6). Technique - Having selected the instrument, introduce a low quantity of composite into the cavity. Introduce the instrument into the cavity and move it against the adjacent tooth, mesial – pull (7) and distal – push (8) forcing the matrix to make contact with it. Photopolymerize the composite keeping the instrument in its position. Remove the instrument from the cavity. The now polymerized composite in the slot already maintains the contact. Conclude the cavity filling by the usual procedure.
